Junior Theatre Celebration Melbourne

A CELEBRATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN MUSICAL THEATRE!

Junior Theatre Celebration Melbourne offers an exciting and jazz filled excursion experience for students and teachers to interact with hundreds who share a similar passion for musical theatre in schools and academies. The program is presented by OzTheatrics in a simialr style to their national flagship event, the Junior Theatre Festival Australia, which is held annually at the Civic Theatre Newcastle in NSW. With a focus on musical theatre education, JTC Melbourne is sponsored by Australia's leading theatrical licensor Music Theatre International Australasia.

During the celebration day, each school group performs a short selection from their student-adapted Broadway JR musical production before a panel of guest artists who provide constructive feedback and suggestions to help the students expand on theatre skills such as diction, projection, acting through song, blocking and physicality, or finding a connection to the story.

Additionally, students participate in immersive workshops while teachers can opt into professional development training alongside OzTheatrics teaching artists. Most importantly, Junior Theatre Celebration Melbourne is the culminating event that brings together enthusiasts from different backgrounds and skill levels – from local students, teachers, and volunteers to experienced Broadway professionals – under one roof to spotlight and amplify the work that’s been accomplished inside the classroom and within local theatre academies and programs.
